Goodbye Bournemouth, Hello Woking. Tomorrow i am going home for christmas and i actually can not wait!! Today i handed all my pattern cutting and construction work and it felt good. I was quite stressed today but i finished everything i needed to and i was pleased with my end results. These two lessons i find have been the most difficult and tiring but i have enjoyed them the most

illustration
illustrator is done and complete!!! I've really enjoyed my lessons with steve and jamie, i used to find illustrator impossible to use but they seem to explain it in a way which makes it easy to follow and understand. I've tried to upload my final illustration but for some annoying reason it wont let me, i have had trouble before trying to upload illustrator files but i dont no why. I think now i have a much clearer understanding how to use it i think i will use it much more on future projects.

construction and pattern cutting so far....
Pattern cutting on our own without the teachers help was pretty scary but once i got started and went back through my notes and previous patterns i was fine. i just took a little longer than i thought i would. There are more pieces to a shirt than i thought.
Today i finished my shorts and finished off the rest of my garments and seams, now all thats left to do is make my shirt. I think ive finally got hang of the sewing machines so hopefully it should go a bit smoother this time.

Melting pot project
The reason we had our fabric sourcing trip to London was to get ideas for our new project. We were shown a presentaion on Mexican art and culture which showed 'the Mexican day of the dead'. the colours are absolutely beautiful and i found it really interesting learning about the different culture. Ive decided to take a different take on mind and i decided to do mine on 17th century glamour culture, looking at people such as Marie Antoinette and The Duchess. Im excited to look at the different lifestyle, expectations and and culture of that era and interoperate it into my own work.

Fabric sourcing in London
We got to go fabric shopping London which was really fun, i didnt enjoy the early start so much though. Ive been fabric sourcing in london couple of times before with college and on my own because in live in Woking which is only 30 minutes away on the train which is lucky because i knew my way around quite well. The fabric stores around Soho are my favorite around London but unfortunately seem to be the most expensive, this is why i find it a good place to come and get samples. I hate asking for sample because each store reacts differently but most were friendly and gave me the fabrics that i liked.

Black and white
To start my black and white construction project i decided to research artists such as Viktor and Rolf, Hussein chalayan and Tierry Mugler. I decided to research first than start the construction to broaden my ideas and it gave me some really cool inspirations.
When it came to constructing i paired up with Sam and we started playing around and experimenting with different shapes using fabrics as well as card and paper. We constructed a bodice on the stand out of fabric and then attached our paper and card sculpture to the bodice.

Right this is the first time I'm writing on my blog because of the mixture of not having the Internet at home and i was being quite slow on how to use and update my blog, but i think i have hang of it now. So here it goes... Also I'm not going to lie i have been a tiny bit caught up in uni life, only a tiny bit though. AUCB, i love it here. Everyone on my course is lovely, the teachers are easy to talk to and i have enjoyed all my lessons so far. Hopefully it wont change. My first week here was an induction week. I didn't actually realise that we were going to be spending the whole week on our induction, but it was a really good way of meeting people an d getting to know my friends in my class better. There was also a freshers fair on for two days were they were giving out lots of free stuff including pizza hut pizza which did make my day. I stood by that stand quite a lot. We also went on a trip, which had a lot more walking in it than i thought and on sand so it gave my legs a nasty unexpected work out. I suppose doing some form of exercise for once isn't so bad. The best part about the day was getting to the pub and sitting down with a pint and chicken nuggets chips and beans, and just socialising with everyone.
